Black Parents Association

OUR MISSION: The Black Parents Association of the San Mateo Union High School District is a volunteer parent’s association made up of a diverse group of parents/guardians, teachers, and friends of all ethnicities.  We are dedicated to cooperatively promoting quality education for students of African and African American descent, while offering the best level of support and information to both students and parents.  Thanks to collective participation and support, we help to enrich our students’ journey through high school while preparing them for college.

Through our monthly meetings held every first Tuesday of each month in the San Mateo High School Library (506 N. Delaware St. in San Mateo), we provide informative guest speakers; community and academic resource information; educational field trips; college scholarship information; and networking opportunities to help parents/students stay connected throughout the student’s high school years.  The BPA’s goal is to enhance the academic experience for our students who are preparing for college by:

  •  Being a positive conduit in helping parents, student, and community stay
  •  Provide timely and relevant information about colleges and trade programs
  • Offer academic achievement awards and recognition of scholastic excellence

We eagerly and wholeheartedly welcome those who are willing to join us in our crusade.  We look forward to your ideas and suggestions helping the BPA continue to flourish and serve as an effective resource for our students.  Together, let’s make this school year one of the most productive terms in our student’s academic career.  “Team Work makes the Dream Work”
